(August subscription release)
La Bastilla! This is the fourth year of us featuring coffee from La Bastilla in Nicaragua and I think this is the best it’s been. This year we’ve gone with a straight natural process gesha. Nothing fancy here. Just ripe whole cherries meticulously patio dried. Historically, their gesha is one of my favorite single origin espressos of the year.
This coffee has everything that we’ve come to expect from La Bastilla over the years. It’s high sweetness compliments the berry forward acidity perfectly. The sweetness is my favorite part. Think sugary melon or papaya. There are the typical gesha florals in the aroma, but overall this a predominantly fruit forward cup. It stays crystal clear though with minimal to no funk at all. It’s a juicy and fruit punch kind of good time.
PRODUCER: LA BASTILLA, NICARAGUA
VARIETY: GESHA
PROCESS: NATURAL
GREEN COST: $11.25
TASTING NOTES: PAPAYA / STRAWBERRY / GRAPE / JUICY
(250 grams whole bean)
