COLOMBIA - Wilder Lazo - Lemongrass Gesha
Another day, another bean from an incredible producer in Colombia. Here we have a lemongrass co-fermented gesha from Wilder Lazo. The coffee was anaerobically fermented for 120 hours with chopped lemongrass in the tanks and then processed as a washed coffee. I love this approach to co-fermentation by Lazo. The goal is to enhance and fortify the inherent coffee flavors and dammit, it works.
The coffee is a flower bomb. Right off the bat, it explodes lemongrass, jasmine, and orange blossom. In fact, it’s a total joy just to smell. I wish I could wear this coffee as a perfume. With cooling, the ripe orange notes appear and the coffee becomes juicy with a silky texture. It’s somehow complex and absurdly drinkable. A delightfully good time.
