COLOMBIA - Finca El Diviso
I have an excuse for being late with the coffee bio this month! In a few days this will surely be more of a time capsule post than not, but I am currently without electricity due to the storm that rolled through the Pittsburgh area this week. Do you know what I can still do though? Thanks to my trusty hand grinder and camp stove, I can still brew wildly tasty coffee! Good thing because for the May release we’re revisiting an old friend, the natural process sidra from the Lasso family and Finca El Diviso.
We first worked with this coffee in 2023, and have frequently featured beans from the Lasso family since. It’s such a joy to bring the new crop version of the sidra back and fall in love all over again. From the first grind, the coffee is instantly recognizable to me. The fruit complexity is almost overwhelming. The dark berry and cherry notes give way to tropical acidity and floral sweetness. I wish I could wear the aromatics as a perfume. Perfume is unlikely, but we are pulling single origin espresso with these beans at the shop, and that’s a killer good time. - Joe
